सेक्सिस्ट बयानों और ट्रोलिंग के खिलाफ आगे आये लेखक: जारी किया वक्तव्य

हिन्दी जगत में साहित्यिक पुरस्कारों पर विवाद कोई नई बात नहीं है।पिछले कुछ समय से भारतभूषण अग्रवाल कविता पुरस्कार (जो 35 वर्ष से कम अायु के कवि द्वारा लिखी गई वर्ष की सर्वश्रेष्ठ हिन्दी कविता के लिए दिया जाता है) विवाद के केन्द्र में रहा है अौर कविता के चयन पर तरह तरह की प्रतिक्रियाएं देखने को मिली हैं। लेकिन सोशल मीडिया अौर दूसरे मंचों पर कुछ पुरुष लेखकों ने, जिनमें युवा और प्रौढ़ दोनों तरह के लोग हैं, जिस भद्दे और अाक्रामक स्त्री-विरोधी रवैये और अश्लील भाषा का प्रदर्शन किया है, उससे हम स्तब्ध हैं। दुःख की बात यह है कि इनमें से अनेक लोग अपने को लोकतांत्रिक, उदारमना और कुछ तो वाम रुझान वाला मानते हैं।

पिछले साल पुरस्कार के लिए चयनित कवि शुभमश्री और उनकीकविता पर अशोभनीय अौर अपमानजनक ढंग से हमले किये गये थे। इस वर्ष अश्लील हमले का निशाना चयनकर्ता अनामिका को बनाया गया है। हमें डर है कि इससे एक ऐसी अस्वस्थ परम्परा की नींव पड़ रही है जिसके तहत हर तरह के स्त्रीद्वेषी, मर्दवादी विमर्श, सामन्ती मानसिकता के खुले प्रदर्शन और साहित्य जगत में लफ़ंगेपन को वैधता मिलेगी। दूसरी तरफ़ इसी समय अति-दक्षिणपंथी विचारों के नैतिक-प्रहरी और ट्रॉल भी सक्रिय हैं जो अपनी ज़हरीली भाषा के साथ, छद्मवेश में तरह तरह के भ्रम और दुष्प्रचार फैलाने, और चरित्रहनन करने में मशग़ूल हैं।


हम सभी लेखकों और साहित्यप्रेमियों की चिंताओं के भागीदार हैं जो इस वस्तुस्थिति से परेशान हैं, और उन लेखकों के साथ एकजुटता व्यक्त करते हैं जिन्हें हाल ही में असभ्य और प्रतिक्रियावादी हमलों का निशाना बनाया गया है। समकालीन हिन्दी साहित्य सांस्कृतिक गुंडों, उनके भटके हुए अनुयायियों और प्रच्छन्न क़िस्म के फ़ासीवादी दस्तों के लिए कोई खुला मैदान नहीं है।

STATEMENT

“Events like announcement of a literary award often cause a stir in Hindi literary circles. Lately the Bharatbhooshan Agrawal Award (given for the best Hindi poem of the year written by a poet from the age group under 35) has been the focus of controversy, provoking a variety of reactions questioning the validity of the decision. We are especially distressed at the ugly display of aggressive misogyny and intemperate language from a number of men, young and old, in social media and print journalism, some of them profess to be liberal, democratic, and few of them like to call themselves left-leaning.

“Last year the awarded poem and its author, Shubham Shree, were the target of a barrage of derogatory and abusive attacks. Interestingly, this year it was the turn of the selector, Anamika, who is facing scurrilous attacks. This sets an unhealthy precedent whereby the openly sexist discourse, assertion of feudal mindset and lumpenisation of literary universe is being given legitimacy. In addition, the literary vigilante of ultra right persuasion are contributing their own bit in poisoning the atmosphere by generating a miasma of confusion, character assassination, impersonation, fakery and vile speech.

“We share our concern with all the writers and readers who have been dismayed at these developments, and express our solidarity with the writers who have been targets of these uncivil and reactionary assaults. The domain of contemporary Hindi literature is not yet ready to be taken over by the cultural brutes, their misguided followers and crypto-fascist militias.”
